A Very Star Wars Christmas

Chewbacca Sweaters, Jedi Lights, and Sith-mas Surprises

As Earthlings decorate their homes with lights and enjoy hot cocoa during December, a distant galaxy celebrates its own special holiday festivities. Christmas celebrations do exist within the Star Wars universe. Okay, maybe not canonically (aside from the gloriously infamous Holiday Special), but imagine it: The season brings happiness along with strange decorations from aliens and the giving of Force-sensitive presents.

Wookiees, Life Day, and Holiday Vibes

Let’s start with the Wookiees. The inhabitants of Kashyyyk showcase the best partying skills. Instead of Christmas the Wookiees honor Life Day which includes family gatherings and peace accompanied by their signature glowing red robes. Created during the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special which George Lucas has mixed feelings about its existence, Life Day resembles Christmas but includes additional growling elements.

Picture Chewbacca attaching decorations on twenty-foot branches while singing holiday tunes in his native Shyriiwook language. No one should request him to wrap gifts because Wookiees lack precise manual abilities.

Jedi Traditions: Peace, Presents, and Porgs

The Jedi Temple appears overly solemn for holiday festivities yet Jedi require downtime. Throughout the holiday season younglings trade story-filled holocrons and Yoda bakes special spiced rootleaf cookies as the Jedi Council organizes a “Force Tree Lighting” event where a large kyber crystal radiates colors according to each Jedi’s unique aura. The aura of Mace Windu always exhibits a distinctive purple tint.

Luke Skywalker attempts to relax during the holiday season on Ahch-To yet the Porgs repeatedly find their way into his stockings. They demonstrate a strong preference for candy canes and all shiny objects.

The Sith-mas Side of Things

But wait—what about the Dark Side? While Darth Vader appears as a holiday grinch his true desire is to hear “Carol of the Bells” performed on Imperial marching drums beneath his black armor. The Emperor hosts a Sith-mas gala annually within the Death Star’s deepest levels featuring red-and-black tinsel alongside flaming eggnog and a mistletoe drone which unsettles Stormtroopers.

When Kylo Ren attempted to initiate a “Secret Santa” among the Knights of Ren it led to six lightsaber battles and a confused reindeer.

Droid Carolers and Galactic Gifting

Droids throughout the galaxy deliver holiday hits in physical form by rolling through the stars. C-3PO delivers performances in twelve million languages while R2-D2 assists with rhythm enhancement and holographic snowflake displays. Every time BB-8 moves it spins festive spirals and leaves behind paths of shimmering snow.

Galactic gift-giving spans from thermal detonator presents with bows to lightsaber hilt polish and Millennium Falcon-shaped cookie tins. And for the kids? Ewok plushies, obviously.

The Force of Festivity

As you light candles on Naboo, make snowmen on Hoth without tauntaun parts, or hang stockings in Mos Eisley when you need luck the holidays spread throughout the galaxy. The holiday season is defined by hope and connections with a touch of midichlorian magic thrown in.

Enjoy joyful days with festive light and allow the Force to protect you throughout the holiday season.

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!
