Visitors see bright and steady lights at Johnsons Christmas Corner but don’t realize the extensive planning and effort needed to produce this magical experience. Guests frequently inquire about our operating schedule and the methods we use to ensure our operations run smoothly during the entire season. Our goal is to maintain consistency but weather events and real-life situations bring unexpected challenges.
Planning the Schedule
We maintain a consistent schedule each year which starts with setup activities during the first weeks of November. We strive to have the complete display ready to operate its lights immediately following Thanksgiving. Beginning after Thanksgiving we maintain nightly operations until New Year’s with the busiest viewing time extending from dusk until 10 p.m. The display functions through music and motion with festive colors while we consistently update social media so visitors can learn what to expect.
When Real Life Gets in the Way
While holiday spirit occupies our hearts we may need to adjust our schedule to accommodate real-life responsibilities. Our full-time jobs and daily responsibilities sometimes prevent us from completing our setup and maintenance work. Our dedication ensures every piece is perfect yet late nights or unforeseen work duties sometimes affect our progress. We are grateful for everyone’s patience during delayed periods because we guarantee that the display will reward your wait.
Weather Woes and Safety First
The schedule faces challenges from weather conditions. Unpredictable weather conditions including rain and wind combined with sudden cold temperatures can cause damage to lighting systems or create safety hazards that prevent powering equipment. We sometimes need to close the display overnight or postpone opening to complete repairs or protect against safety risks. We make sure to post online updates whenever weather conditions force us to change our plans so visitors understand what’s happening.
