KHOU At The Corner

KHOU TV asked to include us in their “Living in the Lone Star – Holiday Home Edition” live segments for 2021.  We usually stay away from media attention but we figured, “why not?”  Luckily it didn’t cause any traffic issues and we had a great time.  Take a look below to see the TV spots…

KHOU Paid Us A Special Visit In 2021

The excitement began with a phone call from the team at KHOU, one of Houston’s most trusted news sources. They had heard about our ever-growing display of lights, music, and Christmas cheer, and wanted to feature it as part of their seasonal coverage. Of course, we were thrilled! We’ve always poured our hearts into creating a festive experience that families return to year after year. To have KHOU recognize that effort was both humbling and energizing.

On the day of the shoot, the KHOU crew arrived just before dusk to capture the full magic of the lights coming to life. As the sun dipped below the horizon, more than 70,000 lights flickered on, including our popular light tunnel, animated figures, and synchronized musical display. Our neighborhood buzzed with anticipation, as visitors arrived in cars and on foot, eager to be part of something truly special.

KHOU’s Marcelino Benito Joined Us

The reporter took time to speak with our family about how it all began—how a few simple strings of lights turned into a beloved community tradition. We shared stories of working late into the night during setup season, the joy of seeing children’s faces light up, and the messages we receive from people who say Johnsons Christmas Corner has become a part of their family’s holiday memories.

They also interviewed a few visitors, who talked about how they make it a yearly tradition to drive out and experience the lights. Some had been coming for years, while others had heard about us for the first time on social media and wanted to see the magic for themselves. The smiles, laughter, and sense of wonder made it all worthwhile.

KHOU Airs the Display

The segment aired later that week and received an overwhelming response. Messages poured in from people across the city, many saying they planned to visit for the first time, while others thanked us for keeping the spirit of Christmas alive through a free, family-friendly experience. It was a proud moment not only for our family but for the entire community that supports and shares in the joy we aim to spread each season.

KHOU’s visit reminded us that the true magic of the holidays doesn’t just come from the lights or the decorations—it comes from the shared experience, the traditions, and the stories that bring people together. We were honored to be a part of that story and grateful to have had the opportunity to share a piece of our Christmas Corner with the broader Houston community.
