Symphony North is an orchestra/progressive rock band with a focus on Christmas music and narrative. Standing out for its unique blend of symphonic rock, Symphony North features former members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, current Dream Theater members, Broadway alumni, and other rock veterans, all collaborating to create a new Christmas concept album. The Bell Ringer
“The Bell Ringer” is a musical narrative that follows the story of Jack Morgan, a homeless veteran who returns to his hometown on Christmas Eve. He takes up the job of a charity bell ringer and encounters various individuals who share their stories and contributions with him. Through these interactions, Jack learns to appreciate the meaning and value of each donation. The story also includes a pivotal moment where Jack defends the spirit of Christmas against a young woman’s skepticism, only to discover she is the daughter of a disabled firefighter he had previously assisted. This tale is beautifully interwoven with music, as the album features 22 songs, each contributing to the unfolding of this heartwarming story.
The inspiration behind “The Bell Ringer” stems from a blend of musical influences and storytelling aspirations. The band’s founder and lead singer, Peter Orullian, is also an author, and his novel of the same name serves as the basis for the album. The narrative of Jack Morgan and his experiences as a bell ringer is brought to life through a combination of original music and new renditions of classic Christmas carols. The album aims to deliver a message of hope, kindness, and the spirit of Christmas through its unique musical storytelling.
